International Yoga Day, 2016

Many people think that Yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. Yoga is said to be for the purpose of uniting the mind, body, and spirit. How can this union be achieved? Meditation is one way, but sometimes it is necessary to prepare the body for meditation by stretching and building strength. Some people find that the physical practice of yoga becomes a gateway into a spiritual exploration, while others just enjoy a wonderful low-impact workout that makes them feel great. Yoga is a physical, mental, and/ or spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. Hence keeping up the culture and tradition International Day of Yoga or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, was observed in Abhyuday on the 21 of June a date suggested by our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Ji. Various different asans like Surya Namaskar, Anulom-Vilom, Kapaal Bharti, Bhujangasan, Padmasan, Vajrasan, Titli asan which are usually practiced in their yoga classes were preformed during the assembly under the supervision and guidance of teachers. Students were also acquainted with the importance of yoga and were encouraged to inculcate these practices in day to day life
